AA Nuncio has developed three core technologies:
- A termbase (i.e., a database of terminology)
- Software for creating and tracking job notes
- Software for managing quotations and billing
We plan to migrate the second and third of these technologies to the Internet so that our clients and associates can generate notes, price quotes and billing information from any computer with an Internet connection.
At this point, our plan involves providing custom web sites to associates so that they can take control of their own promotion yet work with a group of trusted providers. Associates become associates when a majority of current associates approves their nomination.
We expect to complete the first phase of this project by June 2008 and the second phase in March 2009.
Over the years, we've experimented with various translation memory programs such as Trados. Most of these programs work well for repetitive text but are inefficient for the variegated text that constitutes the majority of our work. This is why we've been watching the development of Lingotek with great interest.
Lingotek is an Internet-based language search engine that allows translators to
quickly find previously translated sentence fragments, phrases, sentences and complete paragraphs in the same context as the source document.
This is an evolving technology. We support it because it allows any translator or reviewer with an Internet connection to access powerful translation technology. |
